Privacy Policy

In short. SAFE REC is a personal audio and video recorder. Your recordings never leave your device unless you export them yourself. We do not run accounts or servers and do not collect your recordings. The free version shows ads served by Google AdMob, which may use device identifiers with your consent. Purchases are processed by Apple.

1. Who we are

SAFE REC is developed and published by an independent developer (the “Developer”, “we”, “us”). Contact details are at the end of this policy.

2. What the app does with your microphone and camera

SAFE REC asks for microphone and camera permission only when you start a recording or enable the pre‑record buffer. Audio and video are captured and written directly to storage that belongs to the app on your device (the app’s Documents folder). The pre‑record buffer keeps the most recent seconds of audio in memory so you can save them retroactively; it is discarded when you turn the buffer off or close the app.

Recordings are never uploaded to us or to any third party by the app.
Recordings leave the device only when you export them through the iOS share sheet or iCloud/Files. What happens after that is governed by the service you choose.
You can delete any recording inside the app. Deleting the app deletes all recordings and settings.
The “auto‑delete” setting removes recordings older than the number of days you choose; the app warns you before deletion.

3. Data we do not collect

No account, e‑mail, name, phone number or password.
No contacts, location, photos or calendar data.
No transcription or content analysis of your recordings, on device or in the cloud.
No analytics SDK of our own. We only receive the aggregated, opt‑in crash and usage reports that Apple provides to all developers.

4. Advertising free version only

The free version of SAFE REC displays advertising served by Google AdMob (Google LLC). AdMob, and the ad networks it works with, may process the following on your device to deliver and measure ads:

Ads are never shown while you are recording. Google’s handling of this data is described in the Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Any purchase (Remove Ads, SAFE REC Pro, Pro Lifetime, or the earlier one‑time donation) removes advertising and the AdMob SDK is no longer initialised.

5. Purchases and subscriptions

SAFE REC Pro (monthly or yearly auto‑renewable subscription with a free trial), Pro Lifetime and Remove Ads are sold through Apple’s In‑App Purchase system. Apple processes the payment; we never see your card details, Apple ID or billing address. The app stores only the signed transaction information Apple provides on the device in order to unlock what you bought and to restore purchases on a new device. Subscriptions are managed and cancelled in your Apple account settings. Apple’s terms: Standard EULA.

6. Information stored on your device

Besides recordings, the app keeps your preferences locally (language, buffer length, cover‑screen style, auto‑delete days, onboarding state, purchase entitlement cache, ad frequency counters, consent status). None of this is transmitted to us.

7. Legal use of recordings

Laws on recording conversations differ by country and state. Many require the consent of all parties. By using SAFE REC you confirm that you will comply with the laws that apply to you. The app shows a legal notice on first launch and keeps it available in Settings. You are solely responsible for how you use your recordings.

8. Children

SAFE REC is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction) and we do not knowingly collect data from them. Ads are configured according to the consent framework of your region.

9. Security

Recordings are stored inside the app’s sandbox, protected by iOS file encryption and your device passcode. Because we do not hold your data, there is nothing on our side to breach. Please keep iOS up to date and use a device passcode.

10. Your rights

Under the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA and similar laws you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of personal data. Since we do not hold your data, you can exercise these rights directly: delete recordings in the app, reset tracking permission in iOS Settings, change ad consent in Privacy Options, or delete the app. For data processed by Google for advertising, see Google’s policies linked above.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app changes. The effective date at the top will be updated and the current version is always available at the address where you found this document.
